UX Research

Understanding the people you’re serving has the power to guide design and build empathy. I pull from a strong research toolkit to arrive at a mix of methods and activities that yield valuable insights. My experience in design enables me to craft actionable insights that inform design, and I’ve developed a range of synthesis methods to support teams.

Research planning

  • Research plan development

  • Recruit criteria development

  • Session approach development

  • Session documentation

Research across design phases

  • Exploratory research including contextual inquiry, interviews, group chats, and surveys for foundational understanding of users and the problem space

  • Generative research including co-design and participatory design to inform design

  • Evaluative research including review of prototypes and products to evaluate concept or feature value and/or usability

Research may be conducted in-person or remotely, moderated or unmoderated depending on activities

Research synthesis and reporting

  • Session debriefs and summary capture

  • End-phase synthesis to identify major insights and themes

  • Research report development and presentation including key takeaways, detailed insights, and recommendations

  • Findings review workshops

Collaborative efforts

I believe stakeholders benefit from involvement in research (and vice versa) and have experience facilitating participation at different levels. I’m familiar with quantitative research methods and can recommend when to use them and partner with researchers and strategists who specialize in this area.
